Known only from the type locality

CITES - Not Listed IUCN - Least Concern (2021).

Previously included in hardwickii, but possibly distinct based on morphological and biogeographic considerations; see Tu et al. (2018). This name has priority over malpasi, which may be conspecific with crypta. Requires additional investigation.
